- Air in fuel
- Faulty flow plugs
Engine black smoking
- Possible causes:
- Faulty injectors
- Injection pump malfunction
Engine idles rough
- Possible causes:
- Fuel pump timing retarded
- Injection pump housing pressure too high
- Low opening pressure nozzles
- Injection line volume too low
- Dirty fuel filters
Engine starts but won’t idle
- Possible causes:
- Incorrect pump timing
- Faulty fuel supply
- Injector pump malfunction
- Air in fuel
- Restricted fuel return
Engine winds over but won’t start
- Possible causes:
- Faulty glow plugs
- No fuel to injection pump
- Solenoid problems
- Air in fuel
- Pump plungers stuck
Engine idles rough

- Fuel pump timing retarded
- Injection pump housing pressure too high
- Low opening pressure nozzles
- Injection line volume too low
